How the Pool Volume Estimate Is Built

Rectangular: L x W x average depth x 7.48; circular: pi r^2 x depth x 7.48; oval: pi x (L/2) x (W/2) x depth x 7.48

Rectangular pools use length times width times average depth. Circular pools use the area of a circle times depth. Oval pools use the ellipse-style footprint of pi times half-length times half-width times depth. Irregular and kidney-style pools use the rectangular average-depth approach and then apply a built-in 0.85 adjustment factor.

After the cubic-foot volume is found, the calculator converts it to US gallons and optionally to liters using 3.78541 liters per gallon. Fill time is then estimated from a simple assumed flow rate, and the chemical view builds reference amounts from the calculated gallon volume rather than from a separately entered capacity field.

How To Read the Result

The main volume line is the capacity estimate in the selected output unit, and the conversion line gives the alternate unit immediately below it. Fill time is a planning number, not a measured hydraulic calculation, because it depends on an assumed flow rate rather than your exact hose or fill setup.

In chemical mode, the chlorine recommendation only appears when the calculator already has a usable pool volume and the target chlorine level is higher than the current level. The chemical reference and salt rows are general planning guides for that volume, not lab-grade water-balance instructions.
