A compound floor is weighted by the length of each run rather than averaging the two end depths, which overstates the water in a pool with a long shallow end. Kidney pools use the trade factor of 0.45 across both lobe widths; no perimeter is given for a kidney or freeform shape because three measurements do not determine one.

Because most pools are not a uniform slope. A 32 ft pool with a 12 ft flat shallow end at 3 ft, a slope, and an 8 ft flat deep end at 8 ft averages about 5.09 ft, not the 5.5 ft you get from averaging the two end depths. That is a seven percent difference in water, and every chemical dose is proportional to it.

Because three plan measurements do not determine the outline of a waisted or freeform shape. A number could be produced, but it would not be your pool's. For coping and cover edging on those shapes, run a tape around the actual edge.

No. It is the water volume of the plan shape to the waterline. Steps, benches, tanning ledges, and a spa spillover all displace water, so a pool with a large entry step will hold a little less than this figure.

For routine dosing, within about five percent is fine — you add roughly three quarters of a dose and retest anyway. For a first fill, a heater sizing, or a liner order it is worth confirming against the builder's specification or reading your water meter across a refill.

Usually 8 to 12 gallons per minute, which is why a 20,000 gallon pool takes a day and a half or more. The fill rate is editable, so a tanker delivery or a larger supply can be modelled instead.

A 20,000 gallon pool holds around 167,000 lb of water. For an above-ground pool that is the number that decides whether the ground under it is adequately prepared, and it is worth seeing before installation rather than after.
